After a visit by a study abroad representative during my first year of high school, I decided to spend a semester abroad at some point during my studies. Six years later, I studied abroad in France through the Davidson in France program. I spent a month in Paris and three months in Tours, a city in the Loire Valley, taking intensive language and French culture classes.
While abroad, I engaged my passion for photography. There were several trips throughout the semester as part of the Davidson in France program, and I had a DSLR with me to photograph them. Many of these can be found in the Travel section of my photography portfolio.
I pursued a minor in French & Francophone Studies to further my French education. In April 2020, I was inducted into Pi Delta Phi, the French Honor Society at Davidson. This minor, combined with my political science major, provided me with plenty of opportunities at the intersection of those two fields. For example, I wrote my capstone paper for my political science major on French electoral reform and used English and French sources.
